What is Counselling?

Counselling usually focuses on specific issues you're dealing with right now. It's shorter-term and works at a conscious level, helping with things like anxiety, stress, work problems, or difficult decisions. Think of it as practical support for immediate challenges.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy goes deeper and takes longer. We look at your psychological history to understand patterns that might be affecting you now. It's about uncovering root causes and increasing self-awareness so you can free yourself from unconscious patterns that keep you stuck. The goal is lasting change in how you understand yourself and relate to others.

Why Work With Me?

I bring both lived experience and professional training to this work. I hold a BA (Honours) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I'm an accredited member of the IACP. I work holistically, which means I consider all of what makes you human. My approach is integrative, so I can adapt to what you need rather than fitting you into one method. I've trained in art therapy and have specialist knowledge in working with chronic illness. Most importantly, I believe in the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for real change.

What's Expected of Me?

Just willingness. Asking for help takes courage, and admitting you can't manage alone right now can feel uncomfortable. But once you're here, all I need from you is openness to exploring what you're facing. You don't need to have answers or know what to say. We'll figure it out together.

How Much Does It Cost?

We'll discuss fees during your initial consultation and agree on something that works for you. I want counselling to be accessible, so let's have an honest conversation about what's affordable. Sessions usually cost €70 euro per 50 min session.

Is Everything Confidential?

Yes. Everything you share stays between us. I discuss my client work with my clinical supervisor, but your identity is never revealed. There are rare exceptions where I'm legally required to break confidentiality, such as when there's serious risk of harm to you, someone else, or a child. If that situation arises, I'll discuss it with you first wherever possible. I work according to the IACP Code of Ethics and comply with the Children First Act 2015.

How Long Are Sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually happen weekly, though we can adjust the frequency depending on what you need.

What Happens in the First Session?

We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to change. I'll explain how I work and answer any questions. We'll also discuss practical things like fees, confidentiality, and how often we'll meet. The first session is about getting to know each other and making sure we're a good fit.

If you have questions that aren't answered here, please get in touch. I'm happy to talk.
